1756 (1 Jun) EL from Hamoze (estuary of the Tamar, Devonport Dockyard) to 'The Commissioners of Victualling his Majesties Navy, at their offices on Tower Hill' with fair 2-line 'PLY/MOUTH' andÂ very fine London Bishop Mark, the letter written by Capt John Byron (known as 'Foul-weather Jack' and grandfather of the famous poet) of H.M.S. Vanguard who in 1765 as master of H.M.S. Dolphin was to claim the Falkland Islands for King George III. Some wear & tear, weak folds but a clean, readable and attractive item.Â
