STAMP - 1860 (2nd Sept) envelope (pre-directed â€˜VIA SOUTHAMPTONâ€™ but this erased and m/s â€˜Marseillesâ€™ added) prepaid ninepence for that route (3 x 1d, 6d) from Staplehurst, England to the North-West Provinces, via Marseilles and Bombay, 2nd October 1860. Likely carried by French packet from Marseilles to Alexandria, and by â€˜Orissaâ€™ from Suez to Bombay on 26th October 1860.
