E' stato scritto che "… L'artista ribelle Mario Martini da “Pittore irregolare” fu irruento, scostante nell’arte come nella vita; polemico soprattutto contro il potere politico e contro i potenti della Terra. La sua voglia di comunicare era impetuosa, si spingeva fino a rappresentare con segni figurativi forti e scritte che manifestavano la rabbia, la protesta dell’epoca. In realtà, nel suo cuore, nel suo animo, voleva proteggere la vita delle persone bisognose e mal sopportava l’enorme disparità economica. Assorbendo la poetica espressionista, che ha pervaso la Roma del dopoguerra, le sue Opere erano con materiali poveri o riciclati, dove dipingeva personaggi surreali che richiamano- per alcuni aspetti- quelli di Tano Festa, protagonista della “Scuola” di Piazza del Popolo…”.
