Cette carte photo provient de la succession du Photographe Fassote.
Il s'agit d'un cliché qui sera ensuite imprimé en carte postale pour un magasin/restaurant local où pour sa firme.
Voici quelques informations sur Gaston Fassotte comme photographe et éditeur de cartes postales.
Il y a plus de 35 ans que j'ai acheté au marché aux puces à Bruxelles une boite de cartes postales datant de 1900 à 1970 et provenant vraisemblablement d’un «vide-grenier» de la famille Fassotte.
Monsieur Gaston Fassotte était photographe et on le retrouve entre 1914 et 1960 lié à différents éditeurs: Photo Belge Lumière, Photo paysagiste Bruxelles, Albert Dohmen, P.B.L., P.B.F. …
La plupart des cartes sont annotées au verso (correction de clichés, commandes, nom de l’établissement pour lequel la carte sera produite, appellation des séries de cartes, coloriage et formats….). Grâce à ces annotations et à quelques recherches sur internet, j’ai pu établir le parcours suivant du Photographe-éditeur de cartes postales Gaston Fassotte:
- Cartes postales éditées en 1914 avec mention Gaston Fassotte Photographe paysagiste Boitsfort.
- Almanach de la Ville de Bruxelles 1924 à 1929: Gaston Fassotte 42, rue Middelburg Boitsfort Bruxelles.
- L’adresse « Monsieur Fassotte, Photo Belge Lumière, Rue Middelbourg, Bruxelles» figure sur une commande de cartes postales d’Uccle (1928?).
- A partir de 1924 ? Nombreuses cartes éditées par «Photo Belge Lumière Boitsfort Bruxelles», parfois avec la mention de la rue Middelbourg.
- On note également d’autres sigles: PBL, P.B.L., ....avec ou/et sans mention de Boitsfort ou Bruxelles.
- A partir de 1930 l’Almanach de la Ville de Bruxelles ne mentionne plus M. Fassotte à Boitsfort et des cartes «Photo Belge Lumière Rhode St Genèse» commencent à paraître.
- Une série de cartes de Malmédy montrant les dégâts des bombardements américains des 23-25 décembre 1944 porte la mention «copyright P.B.L» ainsi que de nombreuses cartes au format 10,5x15.
- On retrouve Gaston Fassotte à Bruxelles au 24 rue Jean d’Ardenne, Ixelles (facture établie par lui en1942 à l’attention d’un magasin de Spa pour livraison de quelques certaines de cartes vues).
- Vers cette époque des cartes «Photo paysagiste Bruxelles, 24 rue Jean d’Ardenne» commencent à paraître.
- Gaston Fassotte réside pour un mois à Spa en 1955 à l’adresse suivante: rue des Ecomines 42. Il écrit à un laboratoire photographique FINITRA situé 23, rue du Chimiste Bruxelles Ouest pour se plaindre d’un retard de livraison d’agrandissements. Il mentionne un photographe Monsieur Karpoff, 2A rue du Prévoit à Ixelles, qui doit retoucher ces agrandissement avant envoi. Sur ce message figure le cachet «Gaston Fassotte Copyright photo-paysagiste».
- On retrouve ensuite des cartes postales éditées par P.G.F. (Photo Gaston Fassotte).
- Vers 1960 ? Madame Fassotte, rue du Couloir 40 à Ixelles, traite les commandes des clients et devient éditeur «Edit. Mme Fassotte - P.B.F. Bruxelles» (P.B.F. pour Photo Belge Fassotte)
