Circa 1849s Cover from Hong Kong,China to New York. Cover bears a rare “PAID IN CHINA” marking indicating sender paid for postage to England/USA. Front of cover bears “NEW YORK M….7" partial red circular cancel. Sender apparently paid equivalent to US 33 cents to NY. NY PO charged 7 cents (2 cents Ship Captain Fee, 5c US Domestic Postage).

Back of cover bears red over forwarding handstamp" FORWADED BY RAWLE DRIKER & CO/HONG KONG" and blue oval forwarding cancel of “LAMUELGODDARD / LONDON” (partial strike).

Condition: Cover has numerous faults and content of letter is missing. However, the firm ceased operation in 1850 and was in business only 10 years. A very scarce historical cover in spite of faults
