1780 - BRIEF AN KARL THEODOR, KURFÜRST VON DER PFALZ UND VON BAYERN
9.3.1780, Brief von Ingolstadt nach München, roter Einzeiler "Ingolstatt" als Aufgabestempel und portofrei an den Kurfürsten Karl Theodor durch einen Boten überbracht. Da es zu dieser Zeit noch keine Stempelkissen gab, wurde Wasserfarbe verwendet, was an den "weichen" Rändern der roten Farbe gut zu erkennen ist. Mit siebenzeiliger Ergebenheitsanschrift "( ... ) meinem gnädigsten Herrn, Herrn". Nach dem Tarif vom 23.8.1784 sah man für Briefe an den Kurfürsten folgendes vor: "( ... ) dass Unbefreite nur dann kein Porto für ihre Briefe zu entrichten haben, wenn diese an den Kurfürsten selbst oder an dessen ,Dikasterium oder Collegium' gerichtet waren". Diese Behandlung der Portofreiheit galt auch für den hier gezeigten Brief.

Since that time both, the Mail Order House and Auction House Gärtner, have been united on 2.700 m2 in the easy accessible building owned by Christoph Gärtner.
