Wem ist der Slogan unbekannt: „Nicht ohne Gummi!“ – er hat sowohl medizinischen als auch philatelistischen Hintergrund. Aber es gibt viele weitere Gemeinsamkeiten bei Medizinern und Markensammlern: Pinzetten, Licht und Lupen – mit ihnen arbeiten Ärzte und Philatelisten. Auch Krankheitsbilder sind ähnlich: der philatelistische Hypochonder etwa jammert: der Stempel ist nicht zentriert, das Datum nicht klar lesbar, und das Wasserzeichen undeutlich. Und wenn ein Zacken fehlt? Der Arzt wird es anders ausdrücken, aber Ähnliches meinen. „Alle Kassen“ wiederum meint ebenfalls dasselbe, es geht ums liebe Geld. Und auch das Wasserbad soll schon verordnet worden sein. Der Arzt meint "ein Ausschlag", der Philatelist "stockfleckig". Selbst bei Untersuchungen ist das Vokabular ähnlich: nach langem Suchen stellt der HNO-Arzt fest "ein Schnupfen", auch der Philatelist untersucht Öffnungen in Marken und nennt sie Perfins. Auch Schönheitsoperationen macht der Philatelist, wenn er eine Marke oder Stempel möglichst gleichrandig ausschneidet und den Beleg nicht so belässt, wie er einst geschaffen wurde. Den Facharzt nennen die Philatelisten in ihrem Chargon "Prüfer". Und so mancher Arzt oder Patient beklagt überflüssige Kilo, der Philatelist nennt es Falz. Und der Psychiater wird Erik als Erika enttarnen, der Philatelist nennt es Fälschung.
