La moneda de 1 céntimo acuñada en Francia en el 1999, se caracteriza por un pequeño error de impresión y deformación en el diseño, por lo que fue retirada de la circulación. Por este hecho se ha elevado bastante su precio en el mercado para poder adquirirla en colecciones privadas. Quedan escasos ejemplares, puesto que además de haber sido retirada de la circulación, el creciente uso de métodos de pago electrónico esta acabando con el metálico. Además, las monedas de 1 y 2 céntimos son las que se esta planteando retirar de su uso definitivamente por la poca función que cubren a la hora de pagar productos. Es un ejemplar muy limitado. Cuenta con el peso de 2.3 gramos y el diámetro de 16.26 milímetros.
