1862 "SUGAR CREEK" MANUSCRIPT CANCELLATION. 1862 (3 July) badly damaged and rather grubby envelope to Scotland bearing 6d black-brown Chalon imperf (SG 41) with neat "Sugar Creek / 3 July 62" manuscript cancellation which ties the stamp, also the stamp further tied by light barred oval cancellation, on reverse an Auckland 8th July cds and a couple of Scots transit datestamps. There is no recorded Post Office at Sugar Creek and this possibly applied as a security cancel enroute to the Auckland PO. An extremely unusual and interesting item.
